Abstract

Folk traditions are vital vehicles for the preservation and transmission of indigenous knowledge, encompassing oral histories, rituals, crafts, medicinal practices, and ecological wisdom. As globalization, modernization, and environmental changes threaten the continuity of these traditions, their role in safeguarding cultural identity and sustainable practices has become increasingly significant. This article explores how folk traditions act as repositories of indigenous knowledge, the challenges they face, and the strategies—both traditional and technological—being employed to ensure their survival. By examining case studies and drawing on interdisciplinary research, the article highlights the resilience of folk traditions and underscores their importance in maintaining cultural diversity, environmental stewardship, and social cohesion.
